Sterling Model Airplane Kits on EBay
One of my favorite childhood memories is that of building and flying the 1/2A powered control line airplanes in Sterling's Beginner Series. They went together fast since they only had about 10 parts, and we'd fly them in front of my neighbor's house. These kits were rugged, too, and even flew well after many crash repairs. I had an Endecker that would break at the back of the engine mount on a hard crash. No problem, I'd just remove the broken piece of balsa from the mount and reattach the engine mount. After several of these repairs the mount was so far back that I had to notch the wing, and the airplane still flew. My favorite airplanes in the Beginner Series were the Endecker, Focke Wulf 190, and the Thunder Jet. When I got older and moved up to bigger models, I built an S-1A Ringmaster and an RC Stinson Reliant. Although the quality of the Sterling kits wasn't as good as some others of the era, the fun factor was extremely high, and because of that many people like to collect Sterling kits today.
Although Sterling model airplane kits are out of production, it's easy to find Sterling kits for sale on EBay. You'll need to if you don't already have an account. Doing so is really easy, though, and EBay really is your best source of Sterling model airplane kits, as well as other vintage model airplane items such as Fox, K&B, Super Tigre, and Veco engines, and Goldberg, Jetco, Bridi, etc. kits.
